My name is Sheila K. Iyengar I am the owner and founder of Lotus Dog Training LLC and Reservation Rewards Animal Rescue 501c3.
I have been training dogs for over 16 years. Although I specialize in aggression my experience is wide range. I help families chose the right dog through temperament evaluations and a deep understanding of dog behavior. I also guide people through house breaking and puppy manners all the way through off leash competition and all types of behavioral issues.
I work with all breeds and temperaments and I have a strong belief that every dog can be trained. My experience of over 16 years of training both dogs and their families I have worked through every behavioral issues imaginable and have always had success. My definition of success is an improved relationship and understanding between the family and their beloved pup.
People often ask me what kind of ‘method’ I use for training. I think every dog is different and do not have just one method to train all dogs. As a teacher you have to find what works best for both the dog and the owner to create success. I think training should be fun, fair and consistent. I help people understand their dog’s point of view. My training is about clarifying for both sides. With clarity comes understanding. In understanding, solutions are available. I believe that dogs are teaching us that with greater awareness comes the ability to see many solutions to issues and problems.
I am available for private training sessions at your home, at my facility or in a park. I prefer the first lesson to be in your home or an environment that the dog is most comfortable. Like children, dogs are sometimes on their ‘best’ behavior when at a new place, and I like to get a true read to what is going on. Depending on your unique situation we can customize the training to what works best for the dog, you, your family and your particular situation. I train Monday through most Saturdays and will make myself available to your schedule. Sunday’s you will usually find me doing adoption events, which brings me to the next phase on my business.
In 2004 I founded a 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue organization called Reservation Rewards Animal Rescue. My commitment to animal rescue dates back as far as 1986 with my first rescue dog from North Shore Animal League in New York ( my hometown) and volunteering with my local animal control shelter shortly thereafter. It took years of watching, teaching and learning all the aspects of running a truly exceptional nonprofit animal rescue organization to finally put together my own establishment in 2004. Reservation Rewards Animal Rescue ( RRAR) came from a need I discovered when I moved to Arizona in 2003. My spiritual belief lead me to Native American ceremonies and to the Reservation. I became part of such an amazing community. I observed this community to be needing help with their animals. Often the community would reach out to me, and my experience with animals, for help with their own beloved pets. Reservation Rewards Animal rescue was born. Although we are still in the grassroots stage of development RRAR is committed to education, providing necessary spay / neuter and vaccine clinics as well as adequate shelter and fences for the animals in need on the Reserve.

CHARLIE NEEDS A HOME! |
We take in dogs that need medical attention- get them healthy and find them loving forever homes. Our rescue is unique in that we are distinguished enough to see the bigger picture. We have rescued over 600 dogs in the past 7 years but it is not about just saving dogs in the trenches but education and spay / neuter so we can help on a much bigger level. RRAR is currently developing a children’s education program to go into the school districts and educate the small children on proper animal care and safety, as well as, providing resources to get dogs off confining chains. As on organization we must educate and give communities the resources to help their animals.
In 2008 when the economy started to turn sour we were getting inundated with calls to help the animals left behind in foreclosures. RRAR open up its program to dogs in our immediate community ( Queen Creek / Gilbert / Chandler) known as the ‘foreclosure dogs’.

Currently we have about 10 dogs in our program. You can see these dogs and follow their stories on facebook ( ‘Like us’- under groups Reservation Rewards Animal Rescue or on petfinder.com). All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, housebroken, crate trained, heart worm- valley fever and tick fever tested ( and treated if applicable). They are fully inoculated, socialized and trained ( the benefit of living with a dog trainer). We rely on donations, support from the public and on our volunteers.
To learn more how you can help- volunteer, foster and give back to the animals in your community please visit us on facebook or you can email us to find out more information.

We have also started a Kans for K9’s aluminum can recycling program which is a great program for young children to collect cans at their schools or at your office. We have a main drop off site here at our facility or we can arrange a pick up for the cans collected. All the proceeds go directly to the animals in our program!
